Lyne Marshall
New to Jenny Pihan Fine Art in 2009, we welcome Lyne to our stable of wonderfully talented artists.

Within these abstracted landscapes lie elements of realism informed by the changing beauty and design evident in nature. Although not specific to any area, the paintings result from memories of places Lyne has lived and visited. To her, nature has unlimited intrinsically beautiful surfaces and elements to explore, and she strives to share her emotional and spiritual connection to the land through the use of this energy and the evocation of light.
“I strive to continually renew and refresh my focus, and the changes that continue in my work arise from years of questioning using landscape elements in my work to explore life’s journey,” Lyne says.
This way of working has also been informed by her years of living on an island as a child, and subsequently her visions gleaned from living for 20 years in the mountains. She is equally inspired by Japanese and Chinese contemporary artists, plus those who have chosen to paint Australian centric stories.
She discovered an altruistic purpose in the action of painting arising slowly in her consciousness, and so in pursuing the discipline of painting she continues to develop and explore her interest in the spiritual side of creativity. This passion began with a series of works titled Sub Rosa, and has since blooming in her ability to take the viewer beneath the painterly surface to a contemplative and personal meditative space.

“My paintings are a continuation of the ongoing themes of nature and life and I use metaphors to reflect on the journey and create a poetic response, Lyne says.

BOOK LAUNCH : INVISIBLE REALITIES: Finding the hidden dimensions in art
Written compiled, illustrated by Lyne Marshall

Lyne Marshall is a contemporary Australian artist who has exhibited
extensively in Australia and overseas. This book follows on from Gleaner or Gladiator: the struggle to create, which came out of her ongoing research towards a better understanding of the elements involved in producing emotive artworks.

Concept

This book may open the readers mind to the possibilities that lie within their own creative spirit.
It addresses the possibility that within the many dimensions that make up an artwork, there is one that is imperceptible to most observers. Is there a place where the artist stands, unseen, yet fully exposing their core values and beliefs. If all art has layers that are visible to the naked eye why doesn’t all art whisper the artist’s native tongue, hidden within these other dimensions, and reach out to the heart of the viewer?

CONTENT

Theories about the mind and its workings are valuable explorations for creative people. Topics such as the gift of creativity, the genius in art, mentorship, and the mythopoetic meanings of storytelling can impact on the way an artist thinks and creates. This book utilises the work of a select group of artists and poets, as well as my paintings and photography, to illustrate how creative people, by finding their own hidden story, can change not only their own outlook but the perceptions of their audience.

Testimonials

I felt compelled to read on. This book will no doubt offer something that is valuable to all readers. For me, it’s an insight into the artist’s personal philosophy on creativity.’ Dr Gilbert Burgh, Lecturer in Philosophy, School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics,

‘The tranquility and calmness in your paintings express development and life, which brings a lot of inspiration. There may be the soul and essence of the sea in your eyes.’ - Artist from Shanghai, China.
